Welcome to BIA

British International Academy is an independent academy for Learners aged 2-16 years old. BIA enjoys a rural setting in Deokpo with its own gardens, just a 10 minute drive from central Okpo. We are lucky enough to be close to the mountains and have Deokpo beach nearby, giving us unlimited access to Geoje’s beautiful nature – extending our learning environment beyond the classroom walls.

Child-centered Education

Our goal is to provide an excellent, balanced and child-centered education that is both enjoyable and meaningful. A natural setting, small class sizes, knowledgeable and passionate teachers and supportive parents all work together to create a safe and caring learning environment. Academically, we use the IB PYP, MYP, DP framework, supported by the English National Curriculum. Beyond the classroom, we offer an imaginative programme of creative, sporting, cultural and social activities that offers further challenges and experiences.

Extraordinary Academy

Above all, we offer the environment, care and positive encouragement that children need in order to develop into confident and caring global citizens, who will be able to thrive and solve problems in an ever changing world. You are warmly invited to visit us and experience our extraordinary academy for yourselves.

Parent with children in Early Years and MYP.

It provides a happy and caring environment so that the students can

recognize and achieve what they really desire to be.

During their Programs, the teachers provide closer mentoring and greater support,

thereby identifying students' strengths and weaknesses.

As a Parent, I feel that BIA offers an enriched education to my children.

Mission

Mission

Happiness

We believe that to be happy in school, everyone must feel physically and emotionally safe. We must also be actively engaged in learning that challenges us appropriately. We want all to develop a growth mindset and to experience the joy of learning.

icon-002.png

Respect

We believe that everyone has a right to be respected at all times and that this will support both happiness in the school and higher levels of learning. We also believe that it is important to respect the natural world, our built environments, our cultures and beliefs.

icon-003.png

Inquiry

We believe that concept driven inquiry is the best approach for learning in school and for lifelong success. Inquiry based learning is engaging and motivating for learners, as well as challenging for all levels. In this way, it contributes to the happiness of learners and to higher levels of achievement.

icon-004.png

Action

We believe that learning is more meaningful when it connects to the real world. We seek to encourage learners to take action that stems from their learning and thereby become effective in the world. It builds confidence and independence.

icon-005.png

International Mindedness

We believe international mindedness is essential for understanding the world and for thriving in it. By relating our actions and our learning to other people and places, we enhance our learning and develop respect for each other and our environment.
